Hello!
I know it has been a long time but I do think this portrait needs to be shared here and enjoyed here.
I am bowled over by the portrait and see more and more very time I visit it.

Ralph Heimans was commisioned to paint the portrait which has now been unveiled in Canberra, Australia.
Here is a link with the artist describing his experience -

I am always astonished at the way some painters capture the full brilliance of diamonds!
The Queen is wearing Queen Victoria's necklace and earrings, which are now known as the Coronation Necklace and Earrings.
The robe is the State Robe, worn on the way to a coronation, and worn at State Openings of Parliament.
The full title for the portrait is: The Coronation Theatre, Westminster Abbey: A Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Here is a detail where we can study the Queen's face.
It is full of expression, and wisdom, and reflection. Sometimes I see the finish of a smile.
Other times I see her looking down at the spot where she was crowned and just cannot imagine what her thoughts might be on that.

Hi, Nellie; without doubt this portrait is a great job, but I think the best of this are the diamonds! ;D

I take note for the thread of royals portraits of century XXI

Hi Vandal. I see more in her expression every time I study it.
Resignation but fortitude, and the end of a smile.
And I agree the diamonds are so beautifully done.
Have you explored the painter's website and seen his other work? Very distinctive style.
