In 14-6-79 Sotheby's auction offers a series of pieces, most were brooches, which belonged to the Princess. This causes great consternation at the time, it was assumed that these kind of matters only could happen after the death of the princess, at least in the British Royal House. It is never known the real reason of this auction, maybe Margarita passed through a difficult time or simply because she wanted to get rid of these items, mostly gifts from her ex-husband. 30 years later of this, we will just admire these small but charming pieces. |

The cabochon sapphire brooch looks very similar to the sapphire cabochon brooch which belonged to Queen Ena and now most likely belongs to Queen Sofia.
